Certificates of impartial institutions guarantee and prove the high quality of our products. Current controls in the production ensure our requirements of quality and those of our customers.

PEFC (chain of custody)

As a PEFC certified enterprise we stand for a responsible use with all for the result available resources. The processing of round wood from sustainably managed forests of the region is fundamental part of our philosophy. Given the PEFC certificate third parties confirm to us that the raw material we use originates from sustainable forestry.

FSÜ/Generell agreement of the measurement at mill site for round wood

All after the delivery to the mill purchased round wood is measured at a measuring device calibrated every two years and certified according to the “Generell agreement of the measurement at mill site for round wood”. In such a way the forest owner is sure to receive a precise statement necessary for the invoice containing all dimensional parameters (mid-diameter and length) and visible parameters of quality (taper, sweep, ovality).

DIN 4074-1 – sorting of wood as to stress

Sawn softwood applied in future construction engineering for supporting and bracing purposes will be assorted automatically according to the specifications related to the building law DIN 4074. Current controls of the production process meet the demands on the Sturm company as to quality.
In addition, an impartial and neutral certification agency examines in regular periods the results of the stress-grading.

EN 14081 - stress-graded construction timber for supporting purposes with rectangular cross section

Sawn-wood used in the constructive range has to be assorted according to the legal specifications and standards for strength. The production of sawn-timber is for the first time all over Europe on a standardized basis with the introduction of EN 14081. At the same time there is a CE compulsory labelling of the visually (C24) or automatically (L25, L30, L36 and L40) stress graded sawn-timber.
Regular training courses of the personnel as well as internal production controls take place at the saw mill Sturm which are supplemented by additional in regular distances occuring controls of external certification institutes.

ALS - American Lumber Standard

The export of sawn wood to the U.S.A. is certified according to the requirements of the American Lumber Standards.

IPPC-guidelines

Sturm wood processing applies to the rules of the IPPC standards (96/61/EG); ISPM No 15.
