Since four generations the Sturm company is engaged in the production, processing and refinement of the domestic raw material wood. Nowadays, Sturm is an innovative and diversified enterprise with more than 100 employees and a large spectrum of quality products made from high quality domestic spruces. The versatile supply is the result of a successful strategy reflecting the further development from a sawmill site to an integrated cluster of wood-processing and bio-energy as well as shares on other companies as e.g. Delta Holz GmbH, Industrieverpackung Heidenheim or the biomass power plant Herbrechtingen. |
Central issue of the enterprise´s philosophy is the sustainable and environmentally conscious use of the raw material wood. This is clearly reflected by the processing of spruce timber from sustainably managed local forests and also the almost total material recycling or energy recovery of the raw material provided at one place. In such a way the by-products or bark accruing during the production processs are used for instance in an affiliated pellet plant or respectively in the biomass power plant without being shipped long distances. |
